The smallest dinosaurs,carnivorous species of non-avian dinosaurs,fossils found in excavations in Britain.Dinosaur named Ashdown maniraptoran touted as the smallest dinosaur ever found.Body length about a foot with a weight of 200 grams were estimated to live in the period 145 to 100 million years ago.

"Like other maniraptora,this species is a small body,hairy,walks on two legs, like a bird, short-tailed,long neck,hind legs long and slender,and the front paws are hairy body parts," said Darren Naish, honorary research assistant at School of Earth & Environmetal Sciences, University of Portsmouth,England, told Discovery News. This species is found along with Steven Sweetman when analyzing the remains of dinosaurs in Pivensey Factoring out the Pit,at Ashdown Brickworks,the site is located in the northwest of Bexhill,East Sussex.
Naish and Sweetman concluded, fossils they found it was a posterior cervical vertebrate species may be a dinosaur that has not been documented.The reason is,there are no dinosaur names that are maniraptora of rocks of the same age and from the same area.

Not to the discovery of dinosaur skulls makes researchers have not been able to conclude this maniraptoran Ashdown food. However Naish suspect, based on oviraptosaurus maniraptora and others, including omnivorous dinosaur that prey on small animals like insects in addition to eating leaves and fruits. In addition, the added Naish, Ashdown maniraptoran gait similar to other theropod, that is with the body and tail are in a horizontal position.

Toughest competitors maniraptoran Ashdown as a candidate non-ungas smallest dinosaur in the world today is Anchiornis from China with a body length of about 30 to 40 centimeters. But how long could not be ascertained exactly.
